Great Birthday!

It was an awesome day. I started the day meeting with Robert Johnson, the prison poet. We discussed mutual aftercare prison ministry opportunites. Great breakfast and great conversation.

Afterwards, I and Cindy went to see Ethan and Bethany. Nothing better than spending the day with a great daughter and the most wonderful grandchild in the world!

I hope that Bethany sends me some pics from the day.

Great day in Waterloo

It was a great day yesterday meeting up with Jamie and Kyle in Waterloo. They were in the area for a wedding and we went up and had lunch at Jamie's and really one of my favorite places, Olive Garden. Bethany, Josh and Ethan were along as well, it was fun and entertaining all at the same time.

Here is a little video clip of Ethan and Aunt Jamie. I just want to say as well that man am I blessed. When the world seems to be having it's trouble with young adults, I have been greatly blessed with two very outstanding daughters and one great son. They seem to really have a strong foundation in their faith and the lives. I am so very proud all of them.

Back to Grimes

Home, yesterday and after a few naps the last two afternoons, all seems to be back to normal. MAN is it hot in Iowa. Hawaii wasn't near as hot!

I was at the DSM playhouse tonight as I am the Assistant Stage Manager for an upcoming show - "The Buddy Holly Story". You will all have to come and see it. I would guess that Great Grandparents would get a better kick out of it. By the way, you need to ask Grandma Baker, when you see her about Buddy Holly. She got quite the scare the night that he died in a plane crash in Northern Iowa. Let her tell you the story.

Last night on Kauai on the beach

Our last night on Kauai. Steve, Doug and I went down to the beach at sunset and watched the sunset, a few military ships float by and also the very full moon come up behind us.

Here is the last video clip from our house area beach on Kauai. I did this video special for Ethan, Bethany and Josh, after seeing Bethany's BLOG and how he reacted. So here is one more for you.

Cave and a sunset on Kauai

Here is a self pic on the beach. It was another beautiful one!

A couple of videos here. One from the dry cave on the north side of the island. I have been to the wet one before, but this one is the dry one. It is a really cool cave, plenty deep and what is weird is that there was no echo.

The other video is from the beach right outside of our home. We are swimming off this beach each morning before work and later after work in the afternoon.

Today was an interesting day. I had an interview for a different sort of position within Pioneer. I was hired this morning, as the DuPont Production System Champion for Pioneer. It will mean a different sort of work, and another opportunity to continue my learning. I believe it to be a good fit. I am actually hoping for less travel than I am doing today.

Waimea Canyon on Kauai

Today was a great day on Kauai. After a great breakfast of Loco Moco - I had the double with extra meat, and cheese it was off to the Waimea Canyon and a little hiking in the rain. Of course it was raining when you are that close to the wettest spot on earth. The hike was a little slippery, but Steve Claussen and I did ok. Here area few pics and video from the top of the ridge.
