Promises You can Count On

"Blessed is a man who endures trials, because when he passes the test he will receive the crown of life that He has promised to those who love Him." - James 1:12

Throughout the seasons of life, we must all endure life-altering personal losses that leave us breathless. When we do, we may be overwhelmed by fear, by doubt, or by both. Thankfully, God has promised that He will never desert us. And God keeps His promises.

Life is often challenging, but as Christians, we must trust the promises of our Heavenly Father. God loves us, and He will protect us. In times of hardship, He will comfort us; in times of sorrow, He will dry our tears. When we are troubled or weak or sorrowful, God is with us. His love endures, not only for today, but also for all of eternity.

I close with this prayer:

Dear Lord, when I face the inevitable disappointments of life, give me perspective and faith. When I am discouraged, give me the strength to trust Your promises and follow Your will. Then, when I have done my best, Father, let me live with the assurance that You are firmly in control, and that Your love endures forever. In his holy name, Amen.

Live in his presence today, and know that he is with you every step of the way, no matter the situation.

Our family had a tough day yesterday. Ethan woke up wheezing and breathing rapidly. And our trip to the doctor was definitely no walk in the park. Ethan was strapped into this terrible contraption for x-rays, and I wasn't allowed to even be in the room to comfort him since I'm pregnant. And getting a blood sample was just as tramatic. Doc said his lungs looked ok for now, but his white blood cell count is elevated a little. He was put on steroids, and the 2 of us have the week off together to rest. We go back tomorrow for another check-up with more blood work...yea. His breathing sounds a little better today, but dealing with all of this brought me back to when he was first born. And being an overly emotional pregnant woman hasn't helped. On top of all of that, my good friend's uncle passed away from cancer over the weekend. He was young and left behind young children. We don't know why God has bad things happen sometimes. But having a strong faith in Him makes it easier to deal with the hard times. And I'm truely blessed that this is as hard as my "hardtimes" are!
